STRATEGIC LOCATION
Honduras Pacific Free Zone location is ideal to serve all key markets, with emphasis on the economic centers around the Pacific Rim. Choluteca, in Honduras southern territory is well communicated both by road and sea to the rest of Central America and coasts in the Pacific Rim and the Atlantic Ocean.
It is also the perfect location and set up to attain lower manufacturing costs via tax advantages provided under the Free Zone agreement in addition to the lowest costs in labor, square meter, and utilities to be found in Honduras and Central America.
LOCATION
Honduras Pacific Free Zone is strategically located at Choluteca, Honduras.
Choluteca is located in the south of Honduras. It shares a border with Nicaragua to the south and to the west it is bounded by the Fonseca Gulf shared by Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Choluteca is well communicated with the rest of Honduras and Central America through several paved highways and secondary roads. To the north is Tegucigalpa, an easy 2 hour drive. To the west is the border with El Salvador at Amatillo. To the east is the border with Nicaragua at El Espino and Guasaule.
Choluteca is the only city in Honduras situated both by the Pan-American Highway and the Inter-Oceanic Corridor that will connect the Pacific ports of La Unión (El Salvador), Henecán (Honduras) and Corinto (Nicaragua) with the Caribbean ports of Puerto Cortés (Honduras) and Puerto Barrios (Guatemala). Hence, making Honduras Pacific Free Zone the ideal location for the management of raw materials and finished products both to and from the Pacific Rim or the Atlantic Ocean ports.
WORK FORCE
The most competitive labor costs in Honduras. On January 18, 2007 a minimum salary agreement was approved by the Comisión Nacional Del Salario Mínimo. The agreement states that for the next 10 years the minimum wage in prospective areas of investment and employment (Choluteca, Olancho, El Paraiso, Santa Barbara y Valle) would be 30% less than in the rest of the country.
- Choluteca has a higher unemployment rate than the north of Honduras hence a large work force between the ages of 18 and 35 is available
